- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup cold unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine ½ cup brown sugar, ⅓ cup flour, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the streusel. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream ½ cup softened butter with granulated sugar and ¼ cup brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk 1½ cups flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Gently fold in the diced apples.
- Spread the batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle the prepared streusel topping evenly over the batter.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool slightly before serving, or serve warm with ice cream.
