- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and thinly sliced
- ½ cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: cinnamon for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat. Increase the speed to high and beat until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.
- Gently fold in the white vinegar and cornstarch using a spatula until combined.
- Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet, creating a circle about 8-10 inches in diameter. Use the back of a spoon to create a slight well in the center for the toppings.
- Place the meringue in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour. Turn off the oven and leave the meringue inside to cool completely, preferably for at least 1 hour.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add maple syrup and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- While the meringue cools, prepare the apples. Toss the thinly sliced apples with a sprinkle of cinnamon for added flavor.
- Once the meringue has cooled, carefully transfer it to a serving platter. Spoon the maple cream into the center of the meringue.
- Arrange the sliced apples on top of the maple cream.
- Generously drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the apples and cream.
- If desired, dust with a little extra cinnamon before serving.
