Description

This No-Bake German Chocolate Pie offers the classic flavors of German chocolate cake in an easy, no-bake format. It features a rich chocolate filling, a buttery crust, and a sweet coconut-pecan topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9 inch) chocolate cookie crust or graham cracker crust
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate chips with 1/2 cup heavy cream until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  2. Beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy.
  3. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the cream cheese mixture until well blended.
  4. Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared crust and spread evenly.
  5. In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, and vanilla extract.
  6. Stir in shredded coconut and chopped pecans.
  7. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly.
  8. Let the topping cool for a few minutes.
  9. Spread the coconut-pecan topping over the chocolate filling.
  10. Refrigerate the pie for at least 3-4 hours, or until fully set, before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • A homemade Oreo crust works well, or use a store-bought chocolate crust.
  • Toasting the coconut and pecans before adding them can enhance the flavor.
  • For a lighter version, substitute whipped topping for the cream cheese.
  • Store leftovers covered tightly in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • The pie can be frozen, well-wrapped, for about a month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
