Description
A refreshing and vibrant berry fruit salad featuring fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, complemented by a sweet homemade strawberry syrup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Strawberry stems from 1 lb fresh strawberries
- 1 lb fresh strawberries (stems removed and cut into bite-size pieces)
- 2 cups fresh raspberries
- 2/3 cup fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Cut off the stems from the strawberries, leaving some flesh attached to them for flavor.
- In a saucepan over medium-high heat, mix the strawberry stems with granulated sugar and water.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the syrup begins to thicken.
- Pour the syrup through a strainer into a bottle or bowl to remove the stems and solids. Allow it to cool completely before use.
- Cut the hulled strawberries into bite-sized pieces, leaving the raspberries and blueberries whole.
- Gently combine the prepared strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries in a serving dish. Store the fruit salad in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Just before serving, drizzle the cooled strawberry syrup over the mixed berries and toss gently to coat evenly.
