- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in size.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches, turning until golden on all sides. Set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt remaining butter and stir in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in beef broth, scraping up browned bits from the pan. Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard.
- Stir in the heavy cream and let the sauce simmer until thickened.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 10–15 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.
