Description

This is the easiest Crockpot BBQ Pulled Chicken recipe. It’s quick, delicious, and perfect for busy weeknights or feeding a crowd. Your slow cooker does all the work, resulting in tender, saucy pulled chicken.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts or thighs in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours, until chicken is tender.
  5. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
  6. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and toss with the sauce.
  7. Serve hot on buns for sandwiches, over rice, or as is.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking on HIGH.
  • The sauce mixture can be prepped the night before and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Chicken thighs are recommended for extra moisture and flavor, but breasts work well too.
