Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2/3 cup egg nog
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 4–5 tbsp egg nog
- Pinch cinnamon
- Pinch nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×9 inch baking pan lightly with non-stick spray and set it aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar. Beat until creamy. Add in 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract and blend well.
- Add 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt, and 2 tsp baking powder to the butter mixture. Mix just until combined.
- Pour in 2/3 cup egg nog and 1/4 cup sour cream all at once, then mix gently until a smooth batter forms. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup softened butter, 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients until you have coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the cake batter.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, whisk together 3/4 cup powdered sugar, 4-5 tablespoons egg nog, and a pinch each of cinnamon and nutmeg until smooth.
- Once cooled, drizzle the spiced glaze over the top. Slice and serve or store covered.
