Description

Experience restaurant-quality dining at home with this Elegant Filet Mignon with Creamy Peppercorn Sauce. Tender filet mignon is pan-seared to perfection and served with a rich, peppery cream sauce. It’s a quick and impressive dish perfect for special occasions or any night you want a gourmet meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 filet mignon steaks (about 1.5 inches thick)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons whole black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Generously season both sides of the filet mignon steaks with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Place the steaks in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer them more done. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside, covering them with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the whole black peppercorns and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  5. Slowly pour in the beef broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to loosen any browned bits. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 2-3 minutes, thickening slightly.
  7. Taste the sauce and season with additional salt or pepper as needed.
  8. Return the warm steaks to the skillet, spooning the creamy peppercorn sauce over them to coat.
  9. Plate the steaks elegantly, drizzling more sauce on top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for color.

Notes

  • Use quality filet mignon for the best results.
  • Let the steaks rest after cooking to keep them juicy.
  • Serve immediately for the best sauce texture.
  • The creamy peppercorn sauce can be made ahead and reheated.
