Description

Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs are a sensational dish that balances the sweetness of honey with the robust flavor of garlic, creating a sauce that clings to tender chicken thighs. This recipe is quick, budget-friendly, and perfect for a family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, ground ginger, and black pepper.
  3. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
  4. Place chicken thighs in a large baking dish. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken and reserve the other half.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Halfway through cooking, brush the remaining marinade onto the chicken.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
  9. Serve, spooning any extra pan sauce over the top.

Notes

  • Use high-quality honey for the best flavor.
  • For a stronger garlic flavor, use fresh minced garlic.
  • Marinate the chicken thighs for a few hours or overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Broil for a couple of minutes at the end of baking for extra caramelization.
  • For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the marinade.
  • Substitute honey with balsamic vinegar for a different flavor profile.
  • Add citrus zest and juice for a refreshing note.
  • Add vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers to the baking dish for a one-pan meal.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  • Freeze cooked chicken thighs for up to 3 months, wrapped securely.
  • Reheat frozen chicken in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes.
