Description

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings are a healthier, baked alternative to traditional buffalo wings. They are crispy, spicy, and flavorful, perfect for game day or any gathering. This recipe offers a delightful twist on classic wings, satisfying cravings without the guilt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup water (or non-dairy milk for extra creaminess)
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional, for a richer flavor)
  • Optional for serving: celery sticks, carrot sticks, ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets, ensuring they are roughly the same size for even cooking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the water until the mixture reaches a smooth consistency.
  4. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Ensure each piece is well-coated.
  5. Place the coated florets on a lined baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch each other.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. While the cauliflower is baking, mix the buffalo sauce with olive oil in a separate bowl to enhance flavor and smoothness.
  8. Once the cauliflower is crispy, remove it from the oven and toss it in the buffalo sauce until well-coated.
  9. Place the coated cauliflower back onto the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to set and become sticky.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra crispy texture, try using panko breadcrumbs in your batter or double-baking the wings.
  • Adjust the heat level by varying the amount of buffalo sauce used.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery or carrot sticks.
  • These wings can be made gluten-free by using gluten-free flour.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
