Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
- Fresh fruit or jam (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into four rectangles.
- Pinch the seams of each rectangle together to form a solid piece of dough.
- Spoon a generous amount of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each dough rectangle.
- Fold the corners of each rectangle towards the center, over the filling, to create a pocket. Pinch the corners to seal.
- Brush the top of each Danish with the beaten egg for a golden brown finish.
- Place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for 15-20 minutes.
- Optionally, dust the cooled pastries with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a flakier texture, consider using puff pastry instead of crescent roll dough.
- You can substitute cream cheese with a vegan alternative and use plant-based dough for a vegan-friendly version.
- For bite-sized treats, use smaller dough pieces and adjust the filling amount accordingly.
