Description

A refreshing and zesty dessert that combines the bright flavors of lemon with the creamy richness of mascarpone, infused with the Italian liqueur limoncello. This Lemon Limoncello Tiramisu is an easy-to-make treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup limoncello
  • Zest from 2 lemons
  • 16 oz mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp limoncello
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2430 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • Extra lemon zest for garnish
  • Thin lemon slices (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, warm the fresh lemon juice and granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Stir in the limoncello and lemon zest. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
  3. Beat the mascarpone cheese in a large mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
  4. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Add 2 tablespoons of limoncello and a pinch of salt to the mascarpone mixture, folding carefully to keep it fluffy.
  7. Quickly dip each ladyfinger in the cooled lemon syrup for 1–2 seconds on both sides.
  8. Place a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×9 inch dish.
  9. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  10. Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and spread the remaining cream.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  12. Before serving, garnish with extra lemon zest, lemon slices, and mint leaves if desired.
  13. Cut into squares and serve cold.

Notes

  • Ensure mascarpone cheese is at room temperature for easy blending.
  • Pound cake or sponge cake can be used as a substitute for ladyfingers.
  • Cover and seal the tiramisu well if making in advance to prevent absorbing fridge odors.
  • Using fresh lemons provides the best flavor.
  • Garnish just before serving for a fresh appearance.
  • For an alcohol-free version, use extra lemon juice and sparkling water instead of limoncello.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free ladyfingers or sponge cake.
