Description

These Soft and Chewy M&M Cookies offer a perfect balance of sweet chocolatey flavors and a tender, chewy texture.


Ingredients

  • 1½ cups (188g) all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter (softened but still cool)
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup (70g) brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups (total) M&M’s and chocolate chips (about 1 cup M&M’s and ½ cup chocolate chips)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Beat the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar for 1 to 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add in the flour mixture on low speed until fully incorporated.
  6. Gently stir in about 1 cup of M&M’s and chocolate chips into the dough.
  7. Portion 2-tablespoon-sized dough balls and chill for 30 minutes to one hour.
  8. Press about 5 reserved M&M’s or chocolate chips on top of each mound of dough.
  9. Bake for 9-12 minutes until the edges are set and centers are slightly underdone.
  10. Let the cookies cool completely on wire racks.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough helps create a chewier texture.
  • For crispier edges, bake 1-2 minutes longer.
