Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Start by cutting the beef into chunks and chopping the vegetables.
- Sear the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef chunks on all sides (about 3-5 minutes) for added flavor. This step is optional but highly recommended.
- Add Vegetables: Transfer the browned beef to the slow cooker. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and celery on top.
- Mix the Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, red wine (if using), tomato paste, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Stir well until mixed.
