- 3–4 fresh apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla sugar. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Melt butter, stir in milk, then fold into the egg mixture.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
- Arrange apple slices decoratively on top of the batter.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the apples for a sweet crust.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
