- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Calabrian chili paste (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- Olive oil for frying
- Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, eggs, garlic, Calabrian chili paste, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Using your hands, mix the ingredients until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the meatballs tender.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches. Brown them on all sides for about 6-8 minutes.
- Once browned, transfer the meatballs to the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- A meat thermometer should read 160°F (70°C) when inserted into the meatballs.
- Remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of Calabrian chili paste based on your spice preference.
- Serve with marinara sauce for added flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
