Description

Calabrian Spicy Meatballs are flavorful and packed with spice. Perfect for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Calabrian chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, eggs, garlic, Calabrian chili paste, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Using your hands, mix the ingredients until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the meatballs tender.
  4. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches. Brown them on all sides for about 6-8 minutes.
  6. Once browned, transfer the meatballs to the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  7. A meat thermometer should read 160°F (70°C) when inserted into the meatballs.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of Calabrian chili paste based on your spice preference.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for added flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
