Ingredients
Scale
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 5-7 minutes, then cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll up the dough tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 20 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze.
- Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- If your dough is very sticky, add a little more flour, but avoid making it too dry.
- For a gooey filling, ensure the butter is softened and spread evenly.
- The glaze can be adjusted with more powdered sugar for a thicker consistency or more milk for a thinner one.
- These cinnamon rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for 4 days.
- Reheat briefly in the microwave for a fresh-baked texture.
