Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, followed by the vanilla extract and almond extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- Once chilled, lightly flour your work surface. Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your cookies. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
- Once cooled, decorate your cookies with icing, sprinkles, or powdered sugar as desired.
