Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, followed by the vanilla extract and almond extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  7. Once chilled, lightly flour your work surface. Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness.
  8. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your cookies. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
  11. Once cooled, decorate your cookies with icing, sprinkles, or powdered sugar as desired.
