Description

This recipe for Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bread offers a delightful blend of soft bread, tangy cream cheese filling, and a rich, buttery garlic coating. It’s an easy-to-make, crowd-pleasing dish inspired by popular Korean street food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 soft white bread loaf
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic (additional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the bread loaf into wedges or a criss-cross pattern, ensuring not to cut all the way through the bottom crust.
  2. Prepare the creamy cream cheese filling by mixing softened cream cheese with chopped green onions and fresh parsley.
  3. Make the garlicky butter mixture by combining melted butter with minced garlic, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  4. Generously brush or dip the bread pieces with the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Pipe or spread the cream cheese filling into the cuts made in the bread.
  6. Bake until the bread is golden brown and the filling is bubbly and warm.

Notes

  • Soften the cream cheese at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before mixing for easier handling.
  • Use fresh garlic and fresh herbs for the best flavor and appearance.
  • Do not be shy with the garlic butter mixture; coat the bread generously.
  • Ensure you cut the bread carefully, without slicing through the bottom, to hold the filling.
  • The cream cheese filling and garlic butter can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
  • If using dried herbs instead of fresh, use approximately one-third of the amount.
