Description

A quick and easy one pan spicy sesame chicken recipe with a flavorful glaze. Perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (or more, to taste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or on a baking sheet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add bell peppers and broccoli to the skillet. Cook until tender-crisp, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. While vegetables are cooking, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, garlic, and ginger in a small bowl to make the spicy sesame glaze.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet with the vegetables.
  7. Pour the spicy sesame glaze over the chicken and vegetables. Stir to coat everything evenly.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and coats the chicken and vegetables.
  9. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving. This one pan spicy sesame chicken is ready!

Notes

  • Adjust sriracha for your preferred level of spice.
  • Serve with rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute tofu or tempeh for chicken and use a vegetarian soy sauce.
