Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 500g ground beef
- 400g canned diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 300g spaghetti
- Fresh basil, for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until soft and fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Stir in the canned diced tomatoes and tomato paste, mixing well.
- Add the dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 30-40 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- In a separate pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Once the sauce is ready, drain the pasta and combine it with the sauce in the large pan. Toss to coat the spaghetti evenly.
- Allow to rest for a few minutes before plating your servings.
- Top each plate with fresh basil and a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese.
