Description

Spicy Sweet Fried Shrimp Delight: An Incredible 10-Minute Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle this mixture over the shrimp and toss to coat evenly.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour and paprika. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.
  3. Dip each shrimp first in the buttermilk, then coat it with the flour mixture. Ensure each piece is well-covered.
  4. In a large skillet, pour enough oil to cover the bottom by about an inch. Heat over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Carefully place the breaded shrimp into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  6. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together sweet chili sauce, honey, soy sauce, and lime juice until well combined.
  8. In a large bowl, add the fried shrimp and drizzle the sauce over them. Toss to coat thoroughly.
  9. Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
